The bike ride offers two circular routes, the first a 15 mile family friendly ride from Pensarn, through Colwyn Bay to Rhos on Sea along a designated cycle path, then returning along the same route. The second more challenging 30 mile route continues from Rhos On Sea
to Llandudno, around the Great Orme and back to Pensarn. |

This cutting edge track was made possible thanks to generous funding from the Welsh Assembly Government through the Sports Council for Wales and is already making a positive difference to local participation levels in this healthy and exciting sport.

Anglesey sailor Bleddyn Mon has been crowned RYA Volvo Youth National Championships after he won the 29er crown on the West Coast of Scotland. Mon who has twice won the 29er class National title as well as winning Youth silver at the 2008 29er Worlds in Australia, went into last week’s Championships in Largs desperate to go one better than the Youth Nationals silver he claimed with former crew Tom Humphreys in Pwllheli last year.

Three members of the Anglesey Adventure Club have recently passed the Climbing Wall Award assessment at the Beacon Climbing Centre. Gwenno Wyn, Gethin Thomas and Chris Evans were successful and are now able to lead groups on artificial walls. Chris
deserves a special mention as one of the first members of the Club to gain a National Governing Body Award.

The North Wales Outdoor Partnership has received a grant of £5000 to train volunteer leaders from the lottery-funded grants programme 'Awards for All Wales'. Over the last 3 years, the Outdoor Partnership has set up 28 NEW community outdoor clubs ranging from mountain biking, climbing, canoeing, sea kayaking, hill walking, street orienteering, to multi activity clubs. Last year the Partnership received £5000 from Awards for All to train 49 volunteer leaders within these clubs. The community clubs currently have over 1700 members and cater for juniors, adults and families.

Over the half term break the Plas Cybi Partnership in Holyhead ran a day of Cycling activities for the young people of Holyhead. The day was ran in conjunction with the Councils road safety team, who organised cycling road safety skills and the Outdoor Partnership, who introduced the young people to basic mountain bike skills. It is hoped that cycling activities will continue with a bike maintenance course in the future. |

The Second Valley Girl Guides are currently running an introduction to kayaking course for their members through local Kayak instructor Andy Short. The guides were successful in their application to the Sports Council for Wales for a Community Chest grant to help pay for the sessions, which include six pool sessions and 2 outdoor sessions in the Holyhead area. The Group is aiming to offer more varied opportunities for girls in the area and to attract more members. |

Prestatyn Climbing Club, held the 1st youth indoor Bouldering competition on December 14th at their wall in Prestatyn Leisure Centre. There was fantastic representation from both Dyffryn Conwy Leisure Centre and Llandudno Junction Leisure Centre Club members. This was a chance for them to climb and compete with other ‘likeminded climbers’ from the area, following a long winter of training on club nights.

| Mountain Biking Event a huge success |

Clwb Beico Mynydd Dyffryn Conwy held the 2nd Mountain Bike Orienteering event on Sunday the 2nd December at Nant BH Outdoor Education Centre above Llanrwst. The event was a huge success with over 70 participants taking the challenge in the Mountain Bike Orienteering event, which included a family/youth Mountain Bike Orienteering course, an adult Orienteering course as well as giving participants a chance to test out the new skills course that just been built. |

Ages 13-18years 1.00pm - 5.30pm. Meet at the Conway Centre, Llanfairpwll, LL61 6DJ. One parent/carer must stay in attendance. Cost £5 per person, places must be booked in advance.
