| Outdoor Festival at Plas Y Brenin |
By now all our clubs will have received invitations to the Outdoor Festival being held at Plas y Brenin on 11 September 2010. Those attending will have the opportunity to participate in a range of outdoor activities sessions, skills development workshops, and a number of club development seminars. These will range from skiing sessions to rope skills for mountaineers workshops.

| Funding for Clubs |
Up to 300k available!
The Community Facilities and Activities Programme (CFAP) is an all Wales capital grant scheme. It is open to community and voluntary organisations and provides funding for the provision of facilities within communities and for activities engaging local people who will help promote the regeneration of communities.

| Rescue and Emergency Care Course in December |
Date: 4 & 5 December 2010
Venue: Conway Centre
Cost: £40
This practical 2 day REC course taking place over a single weekend is an ideal opportunity for those intending to gain any National Governing Body awards in 2010. It is recognised as the minimum qualification for MLTUK, ML summer and winter awards, Single Pitch Supervisors Award, RYA, BCU, BASI, ASSI, BOF and by most other National Governing Bodies.

| 13K SPLASH funding for watersports training courses! |
As part of our Coach Education Programme the Outdoor Partnership has up to 13K SPLASH funding available to fund water-sports training programmes for our club members. So, if you are an active volunteer within your club and would like to improve your skills by working towards recognised BCU and RYA accredited professional qualification why don’t you contact us to set the ball rolling!

| Snowdonia Marathon 2010 |

This October runners will again be competing in one of the toughest marathons here in the UK, the Snowdonia Marathon. The inaugural Snowdonia Marathon was held in 1982, and was conceived as a dramatic alternative to the numerous city and town races becoming so popular. The demanding and spectacular route, encircling Snowdon, Wales' and England's highest peak, has given the event a unique place in the annual marathon calendar ever since.

| Famous Welsh adventurer to be Guest Speaker at the Partnership’s Outdoor Festival |

We are pleased to announce that our guest speaker at our Outdoor Festival on 11 September 2010 will be Tori James who at the age of 25 became the first Welsh woman to summit Everest. Tori is a multi talented individual with a passion for extreme adventure in sub zero temperatures who, in May 2005, as a member of The Pink Lady PoleCats, became the first ever all-female team to complete the gruelling 360 mile Polar Challange race to the Magnetic North Pole.

| Outdoor Partnership Community Club Award |
The Outdoor Partnership Community Club Award, sponsored by Magnox North, will be officially launched at our Outdoor Festival on the 11 September, 2010. This award will recognise and reward the commitment made by community outdoor clubs in delivering and developing high-quality, welcoming environments for club members.

| Mountain Leader Summer Training Course (Modular) |
DATES: 25/26 September, 9/10 October, 30/31 October and 20/21 November
VENUE: Plas Y Brenin
Cost: One hundred pounds for Outdoor Partnership Members
This Modular Mountain Leader Summer training course is an excellent opportunity for club volunteers to gain practical skills and techniques required when leading groups hill walking and camping in the mountains of the UK. The course will be delivered over four weekends and will include an overnight camp.

| National Navigation Award Scheme Information Workshop |
Date: 24 September 2010
Where: Plas y Brenin
Time: 1pm - 3pm
Cost: FREE
The National Navigation Award Scheme is a nationally recognized non-competitive personal performance navigation award allowing everyone to be able to plan and enjoy their walks in the countryside. All courses include knowledge of safety and access issues when walking in the countryside, as well as an understanding of environmental issues and awareness of impacts.

| Volunteer Profile: Ailsa Orlik |
This month we are profiling Ailsa Orlik who is an active member of Rock Chicks Climbing Club for women. Being an outdoor enthusiast Ailsa recently decided to change career and applied and successfully secured an 18 month Centre Assistant placement at the National Mountaineering Centre at Plas y Brenin. With the experience and training she will receive over the next year and a half Ailsa hopes that this will give her the skills needed to pursue a career in the outdoor activity industry
