Zac began biking when he and a group of his friends decided to build a small jump one day, he caught the bug and has ridden ever since. Since then he has progressed through racing both nationally and soon to race internationally.

He believes that Wales is a great hub for mountain biking with new venues popping up across the country regularly. Some of Zac’s favorite venues are Antur Stiniog CYF, Penmachno Trails, Coed Y Brenin and Gwydyr Mawr but his ultimate favorite is Revolution Bike Park. “It’s such an amazing venue to ride at and they are constantly evolving the place with new tracks or improving the current ones. Great thing is that it only takes an hour to get there!”

When asked why he enjoys biking, Zac said “It’s such a brilliant way of keeping fit, making friends and having fun. Biking ROCKS!

Zac has been lucky enough to be able to ride alongside his idol, Emyr Davies who lives in Llanberis, over the past couple of years. “He’s a local lad and grew up just over the hill from me and has managed to make it pro! He’s got to where he is training on the same tracks that I ride and I still see him on the local tracks regularly. Overall he’s just a cool guy, humble and cool to ride with”.

Some words of advice from Zac - Enjoy it! Find a good group of mates and enjoy the sport you do. That goes for everything really. It’s so easy to get good by enjoying it and having fun. Make sure you get a good starter bike. Try and spend a few hundred pounds and get a decent bike. After that it’s down to you really. There is lots of help out there be it clubs, coaches or friends. Clwb Beicio Mynydd Eryri is a brilliant club to be involved in. They ride every Thursday evening and once a month on a weekend. YouTube is a good asset too; there are lots of videos on coaching and even just people riding.

Zac has clocked up some impressive miles on two wheels which is one of the reasons he’s excelling in the sport. He has a great support network when it comes to improving his riding and maintaining his bike. He would like to give a big thanks to Kingud Products! They’re a local company with amazing ethics and are super big on the planet making all their products bio degradable. The boys over at Framed Cycles, Llanberis, need a big shout out too, they will sort your bike out if ever things go wrong and have supported me massively. Fabio over at Banana Industries is another guy that works so hard making well sourced recycled clothing. Go check him out! Finally Burgtec and Orange bikes for the support.
